I’m taken by fractals. They fascinate me. The idea that we are somehow, on the cellular level, smaller images of the universe at large is an extraordinary and BEAUTIFUL example of fractals in nature.

Don’t faint. I know it’s a little out of the ordinary to see a non-fiction post up in here. I did have this whole swathe of them planned, but what is it they say about our best plans? Sheesh. Anyhow, I have been saved from boring the tits off you all with constant serial fiction […]

http://www.pinterest.com/renbolina/idea-factory/ This is a little experiment of sorts. I’m compiling an idea factory. Every week, or every other week, there’ll be a series of images, a couple of curious things to research, or a news story or essay/article about some fascinating thing I’ve discovered, maybe a music video to add to the collage. Now this is […]

So, I’m participating (again) in the Clarion write-a-thon, you can find my profile here. I’ve edited it a touch since I first decided to re-register, and my new aims (not yet updated, but hopefully soon) are at least 1k a day, with aspirations of up to 3k. You ever feel the pressure to be an ideas factory? All those authors constantly wagging on about how they’re so brim full of ideas all the time they can barely buy enough notepads to cram them all into. It’s almost sickening, because, really, where the hell are they all coming from, these ideas of theirs? […]

Today I am delighted to welcome onto my blog a brand new and rather marvellous author I met through good old twitter. He recently published his rather gritty urban fantasy ‘Crimes Against Magic’ and, by all accounts (and judging by the reviews), he’s doing rather well. I read the prologue and chapters one and two on his blog […]

This past weekend I finally took the plunge and popped my con cherry at AltFiction. Re-locating this year from Derby to Leicester, under the management of the mighty Adele (@Hagelrat of twitter & a head Apoc Girl) and her team, it was held at the Phoenix Digital Arts Centre, which is a lovely venue; modern, […]

Step across the threshold. Darkness is a shroud, re-makes featureless jumbles to monstrous apparitions, but distant light catches the eye, another room in a large, convoluted house, crippled by time and decay. Henley Moore, in his dotage, bought it on a whim, settled in as a concrete foundation into soft dirt…it too, settled into him. The light […]
